Each week, pngfootball.com will interview an assistant coach off the PN-G staff. The assistant coach works very hard week in and week out to prepare the Indians to play on Friday nights. Their hard work and intense preparation are important to PN-G's success. Many times they are the ones who develop close relationships with their football pupils, and their coaching duties put them on the front lines in game preparation. Many times the assistant coach goes unrecognized in his contribution to Indian football. At pngfootball.com, we appreciate and recognize the work done by the assistant coaches. This is their page. |

On the Vidor Game The Vidor game was a must game for us. We just about had to win it to clinch a playoff spot, and Vidor was in the same position. It would have been the first time in 20 years for them to be in the playoffs. Of course, we were ready to play...we were more ready than they were. We won the game early. The kids were real intense, and we came out early and put the game away early. We did real good on the ground, and doing that complimented our throwing game. We were ahead 27-0 at the half. On the Defensive Ends We have four defensive ends, and they rotate by series. There are three juniors and one senior. All are doing a good job. Our starters are Michael Brignac (LE) and Ramon Lopez (RE). Ramon is the only senior. The other ends are Justin Mercer (LE) and Jared Gary (RE). They all play about the same amount of time. Jared Gary's stepfather is Andy Gilbert, who was a receiver on the 1975 state championship team. On Nederland Nederland is an outstanding football team; they're a tremendous offensive team. They have been very difficult to stop. Nobody's held them to under 28 points this year. It's a great opportunity for them to have an undefeated season, the first since 1959. It will be a chore for us, but we're looking forward to playing them. They're an excellent offensive football team, and they make very few mistakes, and they will take advantage of any mistakes made by their opponent. It may come down to the kicking game. |
