ASSISTANT COACHES' PAGE

Week 2

September 10, 2000

Once again this football season, pngfootball.com will interview an assistant coach off the PN-G staff. The assistant coach works very hard week in and week out to prepare the Indians to play on Friday nights. Their hard work and intense preparation are important to PN-G's success. Many times they are the ones who develop close relationships with their football pupils, and their coaching duties put them on the front lines in game preparation.

Many times the assistant coach goes unrecognized in his contribution to Indian football. At pngfootball.com, we appreciate and recognize the work done by the assistant coaches. This is their page.

On the Outside Linebackers

Senior Jeff LeBlanc and junior Brady Flores started in the Crosby game. They are very very serious players. They practice extremely hard. They go 100 miles an hour. They not only want to know what they're supposed to do, but they want to know what everybody else is doing on the field.

I coach five outside linebackers, and I'm lucky that all five are capable of playing. The other three outside linebackers are Adam LeDoux, Nathan Perez, and Shawn Boudreaux. They all work hard and all are ready to play.

On the Crosby Game

It was a defensive battle. Outside linebackers Jeff LeBlanc and Brady Flores had outstanding games. LeBlanc led the team with tackles. he had 9 unassisted tackles, 3 assists, 4 tackles for losses, 2 Big Hits, and pressured the quarterback once.

Crosby wanted to run, and we held them to 56 yards rushing and 5 first downs. The whole defense played great. We stopped their biggest plays, and sweep and the power. Coach Cummings had a great scheme for them.

On Jacksonville

They have speed. Their quarterback has a great arm. They throw a lot of little hitches out there in the flat, and try to isolate their best man in single coverage. Their skill positions are very good. They're gonna spread it around...totally opposite than Crosby. Crosby ran the wing with two backs; Jacksonville runs a bunch of shotgun and some formations with no backs.
