ASSISTANT COACHES' PAGE

Week 5

October 1, 2000

Once again this football season, pngfootball.com will interview an assistant coach off the PN-G staff. The assistant coach works very hard week in and week out to prepare the Indians to play on Friday nights. Their hard work and intense preparation are important to PN-G's success. Many times they are the ones who develop close relationships with their football pupils, and their coaching duties put them on the front lines in game preparation.

Many times the assistant coach goes unrecognized in his contribution to Indian football. At pngfootball.com, we appreciate and recognize the work done by the assistant coaches. This is their page.

***Head Coach Matt Burnett is also a position coach. He coaches the Indians' inside linebackers. He takes pride in his coaching of the inside linebackers and scout teams.***

On the Inside Linebackers

In the last two weeks we have played real well. Our players are veteran players. They're starting to see everything. They're starting to see open creases in the offense, and they're filling holes and gaps. They've had back to back good games.

We have five linebackers who are ready to go anytime. They're all seniors. Trayce Boudoin we call the "Will" linebacker. He's started 31 games at "Will" linebacker for the Indians in his career, dating back to his sophomore year. He's got a lot of experience. The "Sam" linebacker is Cody Clark. Cody Clark started all 16 games last year and now 4 games this year. They make my job pretty easy as far as coaching them.

They also have very capable backups. Josh Hidalgo backs up at "Sam" linebacker, and Chris Block backs up at "Will" linebacker. Jeff Manuel is the player who can play both "Will" and "Sam".   All five I wouldn't be afraid to put in there at any time. I've been real lucky to have guys that work hard and help each other and work together and drills and all. They're just a real good group of young men.
