ASSISTANT COACHES' PAGE
Week 8

Each week, pngfootball.com will interview an assistant coach off the PN-G staff. The assistant coach works very hard week in and week out to prepare the Indians to play on Friday nights. Their hard work and intense preparation are important to PN-G's success. Many times they are the ones who develop close relationships with their football pupils, and their coaching duties put them on the front lines in game preparation. Many times the assistant coach goes unrecognized in his contribution to Indian football. At pngfootball.com, we appreciate and recognize the work done by the assistant coaches. This is their page. |

October 10, 1999 This week's featured assistant coach: Charlie Wallace, Outside Linebacker Coach Coach Wallace's Background
|
On the Outside Linebackers We ask them to do a lot. They have to stop the run, and defend in pass coverage too. They're tough players and smart players, and they have to be. Shawn Lang is the strong safety on the left side, and Jared Hanks is the strong safety on the right side. Both do a good job. They're strong, smart, and make my job easy. I try not to overcoach them. They've done it all year for us. Shawn is the third leading tackler on the team, and Jared makes big plays--sacks and all. We just turn 'em loose and let the play instinctively and they've done a great job. Shawn McCullough helps when we need him and does a good job. On West Orange-Stark They present a problem because of their quickness and speed. #20 Warren Hale is a real shifty runningback. We don't want to let him in the open field; we'll try to limit that. They run from the I formation, and will bounce things outside. We have to take care of our responsibility. |
