ASSISTANT COACHES' PAGE

Week 10

November 7, 1999

Each week, pngfootball.com will interview an assistant coach off the PN-G staff. The assistant coach works very hard week in and week out to prepare the Indians to play on Friday nights. Their hard work and intense preparation are important to PN-G's success. Many times they are the ones who develop close relationships with their football pupils, and their coaching duties put them on the front lines in game preparation.

Many times the assistant coach goes unrecognized in his contribution to Indian football. At pngfootball.com, we appreciate and recognize the work done by the assistant coaches. This is their page.

***Head Coach Matt Burnett is also a position coach. He coaches the Indians' inside linebackers. He takes pride in his coaching of the inside linebackers and scout teams.***

On the Inside Linebackers

Our linebackers are real important to our defense, because a lot of our fronts are designed to keep the offensive linemen off our linebackers. We expect them to make a lot of tackles.

Trayce Boudoin is our Will linebacker, and he goes away from the strength. Cody Clark is our Sam linebacker, and he mostly goes to the strength of the formation. They are both juniors. They remind me of a couple of the linebackers I played with in 1974--Wilson Weber and Ricky Simpson. They're that type of people. They're not real big, about 5'9" and 185, but they're real quick readers. Their instincts for the game are real good. They can dissect a play and get in the right place quickly. Trayce started 10 games last year, and Cody has started every game this year. They're a pleasure to work with because they're real serious about it, not a lot of clowning around. They're as intense as I am.

Backing them up at Sam linebacker is Lee Sullivan. Lee is in the same line as Clark and Boudoin sizewise and has great quickness. Backing up Boudoin is Brandon LaFleur at Will. Both those guys are just real dedicated to getting the job done, all four of them are a pleasure to work with.
