NEW PN-G FIELDHOUSE

![]()
| In 1998, a new fieldhouse was constructed at the
Reservation. The old, red brick structure which had served to house the Indians since the
early 1950s was razed, and a modern, state of the art facility was erected in its place. The new facility was the brainchild of Indian head coach Matt Burnett. Burnett dreamed of providing a first class facility for Indian athletes, one which was worthy of the pride and dignity associated with Indian football. Burnett studied and visited the athletic facilities of numerous high schools and colleges, including Lamar Consolidated, A&M Consolidated, Navasota, Texas A&M University, and the University of Nebraska. He incorporated the best aspects of each facility into his own design. No detail was overlooked. Careful attention was given to picking out the colors, the type of floor, the placement of lockers in the locker area, etc. What emerged is one of the finest facilities for high school athletes in the nation! |
