| Coach Burnett Talks About Week 7 October 10, 1999 Lincoln GameThe Lincoln game was one of those games there we didn't play as well as we can, and we still won the game. That's the positive part of it. It gives us an opportunity to improve on some of the things we didn't do well. Lincoln played a real good game. Defensively they did a good job of mixing up their stunts, and offensively the did a great job throwing the ball which kept them in the game. They had two good kickoff returns and a 98-yard punt return. We won the game, but it exposed some things we need to work on. Dustin did a good job of running the ball in the second half. Bergeron did some solid running an real god blocking in the second half. I'm pleased with the way the kids played, but we may have taken them a little lightly--not the coaching staff, but the players. They got beat 59-12 the week before, the kids may have anticipated that Lincoln didn't have real fight in 'em, but just the opposite happened. However, now we're 6-0, and there's a sense of urgency of getting things fixed in our offense, defense, and kicking game. Bridge City Bridge City's another team that has not won a lot of games. Nederland trounced on 'em pretty good--beat them 63-0. They're another team we have got to take seriously. They play hard. They run a bunch of formations offensively to get you confused. Defensively, they do a good job of swarming around the football. They haven't been winning, but everybody gets focused against the Indians with our tradition and all. We're expecting a tough game out of 'em. Injuries Safety Chris Gohlke, who suffered a slightly separated shoulder in the TJ game, will likely be out vs. Bridge City.
