The Lincoln Game

I felt like defensively we played better technique than we did the week before. We really emphasized all week hustling to the football, and I felt our kids did a good job of that. Offensively the turnovers were a big factor in making it look like our defense didn't play that well. But we played better.

The game was playing out to be a real good contest until right before the half. But we threw two interceptions right before halftime. When you turn the ball over you're going to have problems. Three turnovers turned into scores--2 interceptions and 1 fumble went for touchdowns. That's 21 points right there.

It's up to us as coaches to make sure we control those things in the future. Obviously we have to look at everything we're doing. For some reason those things happen.

We're getting great effort from the kids. They battled the whole time.

The LC-M Game

As far as the team's outlook to the LC-M game, our players are a resilient group. They're together. They enjoy each other's company. They seem to understand the touch times we're going through. What I admire about them is they'll come back this week and practice as well as any team in the state, and be fully prepared to go again. They year has been a tough situation for them. Nonetheless, we have great work habits and a great attitude.

LC-M is 0-3. They're playing everybody tough. They played Lincoln real close. They lost to Nederland 27-21. They went into overtime last week against TJ and lost 28-21. So they're definitely a good football team.

They changed a lot of things they have done in the past. They have a more wide open attack. Defensively they used to be an 8-man front; now they run a 4-3 Miami front.

They're going to be a team that's a challenge for us. It's going to be the last home game for our seniors. This is a tremendous challenge for these young players. They never expected a thing like this to happen. It's hard for a young person to understand and overcome these obstacles, but they're doing it.

Defensive Leaders

     Defensive leaders against Lincoln were:

SS Grant Hebert--7 unassisted tackles, 1 assist, 1 tackle for loss

OLB Allen Baxter--4 unassisted tackles, 2 assists, 1 tackle for loss

LB Dustin DuBois--4 unassisted tackles, 1 assist

DE Jake Lemoine--2 unassisted tackles, 2 assists, 1 tackle for loss, 1 deflected pass
