| Coach Burnett Talks About Week 8 October 17, 1999 Bridge City GameWe felt like our throwing game was really sharp against the Cardinals. We completed several deep passes on them. I was also glad to see our running game pick up. We went into the game wanting to execute our lead option and counter, and we did. Defensively, we felt like in the second half we had tremendous effort. The kids did a real good job as far as limiting Bridge City in the second half. Overall I was real pleased with the way the kids played emotionally and the way they competed against Bridge City. West Orange-Stark We know West Orange is going to come into Port Neches with a desperate attitude because they've lost two district games. We're expecting their highest effort and concentration. They're a team that has tremendous speed offensively and their defense is always tough. They're known throughout the state as being one very aggressive defensively. We've got to take care of our business and not get caught up in the hype of the game. We take care of our business and everything will be all right. We realize West Orange is capable of playing real well. We've got to get better and better each week. I know Coach Hooks will have them geared up for the Indians. They've been here in a lot of big games. I know our fans are anxious to see us play a team the caliber of West Orange. Injuries We should be getting back DT Jeremy Davis, FS Chris Gohlke, and TE/DE Michael Brignac. Receiver Joey Price is probable; he's been having back spasms.
